The Red Sox celebrated the 2004 World Series winning team on Wednesday night, and had former Boston star (and current Cubs' minor-league player/coach!) Manny Ramirez throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Things did not go according to plan:
Okay yeah that painfully scripted combat roll was most likely orchestrated from the beginning and therefore went exactly as it was written up, but you get what I'm saying.
If you don't recall why there would be any need for Johnny Damon to come out of nowhere and intercept a Manny Ramirez throw that celebrates the magical 2004 campaign, the wonders of the Internets' memory will fix that for you. Journey back to July 21, 2004 with us for a moment:
Manny's arm was much better than Johnny's, anyway. He was just saving Damon the embarrassment of having a throw hop its way into the infield. Probably.
When are they going to recreate Manny taking a bathroom break inside the Green Monster, though?
