Yes, that's Jonny Gomes vs. a righty again. Yes, he's batting sixth. No, there's no real explanation for it that I can see.
Then again, it's not like the Red Sox' alternatives are all that impressive with Mike Napoli and Shane Victorino on the disabled list. No, the Sox just have to hope that, having been the victims of momentum in the other direction for most of the last two weeks, they might actually have some in their favor right now. The reality of the situation that this is still a lineup full of holes, but if they can actually make some progress over the next couple weeks, then maybe the returns of Drew, Victorino, and Napoli will actually mean something.
