Brandon Workman will take the mound Sunday afternoon as the Red Sox try to keep this long losing streak from reaching double digits.
|BOSTON RED SOX||TAMPA BAY RAYS|
|Brock Holt - 3B||David DeJesus - LF|
|Xander Bogaerts - SS||Evan Longoria - 3B|
|Dustin Pedroia - 2B||Matt Joyce - DH|
|David Ortiz - DH||Wil Myers - RF|
|Mike Carp - 1B||James Loney - 1B|
|Daniel Nava - RF||Brandon Guyer - CF|
|A.J. Pierzynski - C||Logan Forsythe - 2B|
|Grady Sizemore - LF||Yunel Escobar - SS|
|Jackie Bradley - CF||Jose Molina - C|
|Brandon Workman - RHP||Jake Odorizzi - RHP|
So the Brock Holt leadoff experience seems to be a thing now. One that will last, presumably, until Stephen Drew arrives or he gives the team a reason to let it end.
Really, though, what are we looking for today? Obviously a win would be nice--at least I think it would be. It's been so long it's hard to remember exactly how those feel. But more than anything seeing Brandon Workman actually pitch a good game of baseball would be super encouraging, even if all we're looking for is dignity from the rotation in the months to come.
First pitch is at 1:40 p.m. EST with broadcasts on NESN, WEEI, and the MLB Network.
