For as many good moves John Farrell made last year, he has made what seems to be an equal amount of questionable moves this year. When Farrell put Dustin into the lead off spot he said he did so for a consistent lineup. Since then, for many different reasons, the lineup has not been consistent or in a word good. Can someone give me a good reason not to throw out this lineup night in and night out once drew is ready, and even now with Holt in the lineup.
1 - Xander 2-Shane 3- Dustin 4-Papi 5 - Napoli 6 - Gomes/Nava (Yes Nava needs to be back up here) 7- AJ 8 - Drew 9 - JBJ
The 6 7 and 8 slots could shift around a bit depending on match ups, but 1-5 that is the deepest we can be and a lineup that can stay, to use Farrell's words, consistent every day no matter who is on the mound. Dustin is not a leadoff hitter, Xander should no longer be at the bottom of this lineup. X man is in the big leagues right now because of his bat, they have already partially set him back in the field (although I truly believe that is a bigger reflection on WMB then on Xander), it is time to at least unleash him at the plate. Show that you have the confidence in him John, because he is seeing and hitting the ball harder than anyone else on this team right now.
