It's Red Sox vs. Tigers again! Yaaaaaohgodwhy.
I don't know about you, but I'm out of gas, folks. I couldn't maintain optimism after the series against the Twins, but there was at least hope. All we needed was for Jon Lester to win a duel, and for John Lackey to prove the better pitcher against Porcello. Neither scenario was outside the realm of reason, and not just in an "any given game" kind of way.
But neither came to pass. Jon Lester lost that duel, and Lackey was awful. And now all we have left is the shaky Jake Peavy against no less than Anibal Sanchez. And even if the Red Sox manage to pull off an unlikely win, all we have to look forward to on Tuesday is a chance to get back to .500.
I'm gonna go watch World Series highlights...
