Game 41: Red Sox vs. Tigers

Loading Scores

If the Red Sox are going to have a chance to take this series, one has to imagine it's going to be because of the pitching.

Yes, the Tigers are sending Max Scherzer, Rick Porcello, and Anibal Sanchez to the mound. Yes, that's one heck of a gauntlet for the Red Sox to face, particularly considering how Jake Peavy's peripheral chickens have come home to roost. But if Lester and Lackey are at their best, the lineup might not have to do much against Scherzer and his ilk.

Still, it's a bit of a longshot. The Tigers are exactly the sort of team the Red Sox didn't need to see coming off a disappointing series loss in Minnesota. It might be all we can ask to stick within shooting distance of .500.

All the same...

Go Sox!
