Shane Victorino will be missing from Boston's lineup for the second straight game, leaving John Farrell to turn to Grady Sizemore in right field and Mike Carp in left.

Shane Victorino's absence can be chalked up to a diving grab he made in right field in Wednesday's game against the Twins that left him limping. It's a bad time for the Red Sox to be without their starting right fielder, as they head directly into the buzzsaw known as the Detroit Tigers.
The bigger story for this game alone, however, will be the matchup on the mound. Jon Lester vs. Max Scherzer was the playoff preview that established Lester atop Boston's rotation late in 2013, and Lester vs. Scherzer as the matchup that kicked off the ALCS that would see the Red Sox through to the postseason. There aren't many better matchups in baseball right now.
First pitch is at 7:10 p.m. EST with broadcasts on NESN, WEEI, and the MLB Network.
