Dustin Pedroia's wrist scans clean; DL trip unlikely

Jared Wickerham

Dustin Pedroia has received a clean bill of health after being scratched from Sunday night's game against the Yankees with a sore wrist.

The Red Sox are finally getting some good news, as Rob Bradford is reporting that an examination of his wrist has revealed no breaks of any kind, meaning the second baseman will likely not be spending time on the disabled list.

Pedroia was a late scratch before Sunday night's game against the Yankees. Instead of heading to Chicago with the rest of the team, he made his way back to Boston to have an examination on his wrist, which had been bothering him since the season's first home game against the Milwaukee Brewers.

It's been a rough week-or-so since then, with Pedroia hitting just .236/.236/.291. Dating back to that April 4th game, Pedroia is a mere 6-for-40 at the plate with a pair of doubles mixed in.

Hopefully a bit of rest will have his wrist--and with it his bat--back to normal. The Red Sox could certainly use him right about now.
