Keith Olbermann didn't like Boston's pre-game ceremony for retiring New York Yankees legend Mariano Rivera. He really, really didn't like it. He spends over 10 minutes telling you how much he didn't like it and why exactly it bothered him. Well, that's not entirely true. He also spent a few minutes complaining about all of the other gifts that other teams gave Rivera. Keith Olbermann might not be a happy man.
I will say, he's got a point about the Red Sox pimping David Ortiz and Dustin Pedroia during the ceremony. But my eyes were rolling back into my head through the rest of it, because he just goes on and on and okay Keith Jesus that's enough we get it you didn't like the ceremony and you hate fun.
Mariano Rivera seemed pretty happy overall. In the video itself, Derek Jeter is quoted as thinking the whole thing was pretty funny. It's a rivalry, guys -- they showed Rivera a ton of respect and reverence, but also got some ribbing in. Red Sox fans were reminded of the moment where they truly came to appreciate Mariano Rivera, he got some nifty pieces of Fenway, and he left his mark on the park. Whether Mo liked it or not is the only measure that matters, and it seems like he enjoyed himself.
