Red Sox vs. Rangers lineups: Full starting nine for Boston

USA TODAY Sports

It's a rare occurrence: Boston will have their full starting nine against Alexi Ogando and the Texas Rangers.

The Red Sox will have their full starting lineup on the field Saturday night against the Rangers as they try to bounce back from being dominated by Derek Holland.

  3. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
  4. David Ortiz, DH
  5. Mike Napoli, 1B
  6. Daniel Nava, LF
  7. Jarrod Saltalamacchia, C
  8. Will Middlebrooks, 3B
  9. Stephen Drew, SS

Starting Pitcher -- John Lackey

Texas Rangers (18-11)

  1. Ian Kinsler, 2B
  2. Elvis Andrus, SS
  3. Lance Berkman, DH
  4. Adrian Beltre, 3B
  5. A.J. Pierzynski, C
  6. Nelson Cruz, RF
  7. Mitch Moreland, 1B
  8. Craig Gentry, CF
  9. Leonys Martin, LF

Starting Pitcher -- Alexi Ogando

We really haven't seen much of this lineup this year. First David Ortiz was out, then Shane Victorino. Always someone hurting, rarely a chance to see this group at full strength.

Of course, Victorino's bat was replaced by a series of ridiculous performances from Mike Carp, so it doesn't make a ton of sense to expect the full lineup to really produce better offensively. But there's more to the game than just offense, and with John Lackey on the mound--even this new, improved Lackey we've seen in his first couple of starts--it certainly doesn't hurt to have an exceptional defense going.

Still, it will all have to start with an improved performance at the plate, at least compared to last night. You can't win any games when shut out.
