Pawtucket W 6-1
Brock Holt: 1-3, BB
David Ortiz: 0-4, K
Ryan Lavarnway: 2-4, HR
Bryce Brentz: 0-3, BB, K
Jeremy Hazelbaker: 0-3, K
Last night Dennis Eckersley shrugged off Ortiz' rehab performance by saying he shouldn't be wasting hits in Pawtucket anyways. I'm pretty sure that's not how it works, but I'm also pretty sure he's right not to be worried.
Meanwhile, that's Ryan Lavarnway's first home run of the year. He's actually off to a good start in spite of the lack of long balls.
Portland W 1-0
Xander Bogaerts: 1-4, 2B, 2 K
Travis Shaw: 1-4
Christian Vazquez: 1-3
Brandon Workman: 7 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 9 K
That's 25 strikeouts in 18 innings of work now for Brandon Workman. And just two walks and ten hits to boot. Is it the year of the pitcher in the Red Sox farm system? For that matter, given that that's Xander Bogaerts' first extra-base hit, it might be the year of the pitcher throughout the minors.
Salem L 2-4
Sean Coyle: 1-4, 2 K, SB
Garin Cecchini: 0-4, 3 K
Brandon Jacobs: 1-4, 2B
Keury De La Cruz: 1-4, 2 K
Henry Owens: 5 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 7 K
This is the prototypical 2012 Henry Owens game. Still, not bad, and if you put it together with his first two games, he's still enjoying a fine start to the season.
Greenville W 5-4
Jose Vinicio: 0-5, 3 K
Cody Koback: 1-5, 2 K
Franklin Morales: 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, K
Pat Light: 2.2 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 3 K
Perhaps some rust for Morales with the walks. He really doesn't have to be anywhere near 100% for his pure stuff to carry him against this level of hitting.
