Xander Bogaerts is back in the lineup, playing alongside Jackie Bradley Jr. as the Sox take on Toronto.
You may notice a pattern: Red Sox stay at home, the whole lineup plays. Red Sox go on the road, and Jackie Bradley Jr. plays surrounded by a bunch of other guys who don't really--
Oh, hey, is that Xander Bogaerts?
- Brock Holt, 2B
- Drew Sutton, 3B
- Jackie Bradley Jr., CF
- Ryan Lavarnway, C
- Lyle Overbay, 1B
- Mauro Gomez, DH
- Mike Carp, LF
- Bryce Brentz, RF
- Xander Bogaerts, SS
Yes, the World Baseball Classic is over, freeing up Xander Bogaerts to return to Boston, where Jackie Bradley Jr. has taken advantage of his absence to seize the prospect spotlight and then some. Now both will play together, with Bogaerts shifting back to shortstop, where Farrell says he plans to keep him for now--any short moves to third being entirely about finding at bats for the young infielder.
Other than those two, we've got some Ryan Lavarnway, who still can't remember how it was he used to hit so many baseballs such a long ways, and Bryce Brentz, who hasn't shot himself again just yet. Progress!
