The Red Sox are off to Bradenton to take on the Pittsburgh PIrates in the last spring training game of February.

The Red Sox are off to Bradenton for Grapefruit League game #7 today, but they're only bringing the backups with them.

Boston Red Sox

  1. Jackie Bradley, CF
  2. Brock Holt!, 2B
  3. Ryan Lavarnway, DH
  4. Ryan Sweeney, RF
  5. Drew Sutton, 3B
  6. David Ross, C
  7. Lyle Overbay, 1B
  8. Juan Carlos Linares, LF
  9. Jose Iglesias, SS
Starting Pitcher -- John Lackey

Credit the magic of spring training for having a designated hitter in a National League team's park.

It's a decent enough lineup for what it is, frankly. Jackie Bradley is, of course, the star attraction up top, but we've also got some decent position battle angles with Lyle Overbay and Ryan Sweeney. David Ross figures to be an important part of the team, and while the likes of Holt, Lavarnway, and Iglesias don't have the same "wow" factor these days as Bradley, they're all interesting enough in their own right.

And then there's John Lackey, who will ideally spend his two innings today looking like the pitcher who got out of the bases loaded jam by giving up just one run rather than the one who put three men on without getting an out. He'll be followed by a cavalcade of non-roster invitees.
