Top Offensive Seasons: Trot Nixon tops the list with a 152 wRC+ in 2003. He is followed by J.D. Drew's 142 in 2008 and Dewey Evans' 142 in 1989. Evans' 137 mark in 1988 comes up 4th and Drew's 135 mark in 2009 comes in 5th.

Top Defensive Seasons: Christopher "Trotter" Nixon was the best of this bunch across multiple seasons, but when it comes down to single season data, Victorino's effort this past year takes it with a 19.5 Def Rating. Helps to be a CFer playing RF. Nixon posted seasons of 15.5 and 9.7. Darren Bragg boasts a 20.1 mark in 97 and Darren Lewis posted a 23.1 mark in 1999 but both of those were eared primarily from time in CF.

Top Overall Seasons: Shane Victorino put up the best WAR by any Sox RFer in the past 25 years with his 5.6 mark this past season. Trot Nixon's 4.8 during the 2003 season comes up 2nd and J.D. Drew's 4.7 mark put up during 2009 comes in third.

Worst Season: I'm calling this a tie: (a) The Billy Hatcher/Wes Chamberlain combo of 1994 managed a -1.5 WAR between them while (b) In 1996 Troy O'Leary and Jose Malave managed an even worse -1.8 WAR. That's just plain bad followed by bad.

Worst Defender: I'm not about to give this to Dewey even though as his career was waning, so were his defensive metrics. He was eventually moved to a part-time 1B/RF role. He gets a pass for being a good defender for the majority of his career in the 70s/80s. Troy O'Leary garners this award with back to back -23.2 and -9.0 and -9.3 seasons in RF.

Average Seasons (2.0+ WAR): 15 of 25

Above Average Seasons (4.0+ WAR): 4 of 25

Star Seasons (6.0+ WAR): 0 of 25

Notes: Both my favorite Sox player of all-time (Evans) and my namesake (BZ) appear in this list, so of course, this is my favorite. Rf has been a bit of a mash for the Sox with no superstars among the bunch but some solid players nonetheless.

Top Red Sox RF of the Past 25 Years: Trot Nixon

With apologies to J.D. Drew, Nixon's 23.0 WAR as a Sox RFer is easily the best and while he was kind of up-and-down for his career he posted one of the most underrated Red Sox seasons of all-time in 2003. Imagine if he could have just hit a litle bit against lefties!

Up Next: DH (I guess that will be easy)
