Aside from the question marks at CF, SS, and C, which will eventually work themselves out, the biggest concern for the Red Sox has to be the 7th and 8th inning bullpen arms.
Sure, there are plenty of arms leftover from last year, but not really any good arms.
It breaks down like this.
Uehara - closer, which everyone feels good about right now.
Tazawa - a set-up man, but not the set-up man, if you're looking to strike fear into American League lineups.
Breslow - overachieved last year. Need to mentally prepare for worse numbers than last year.
Miller - possibly getting let go.
Bailey - I've about given up on him. Anything you get from him this year is a bonus.
Workman - Don't waste him in the bullpen. Let him start in AAA, so that when 80% of the rotation becomes free agents after 2014, he's ready.
Doubront - Wants no part of the 'pen
Dempster - Wants no part of the 'pen.
One name I'd love the Red Sox to pursue is Grant Balfour. Pay him what you have to. Sure, he's another righty, but the Sox need 8th inning pitcher. We have plenty of 6th inning pitchers. But where does that really get you?
