Top Offensive Seasons: Jacoby Ellsbury's 2011 stands out here with a 150 wRC+. Carl Everett's 135 mark in 2000 comes in 2nd followed by Ellis Burks three seasons from 88-90 rounding out the top 5.

Top Defensive Seasons: Coco Crisp put up a 27.1 Def Rating in 2007 for the top mark while the light hitting Darrens: Bragg (1997) and Lewis (1999) also eclipsed the 20 mark.

Top Overall Seasons: Ellsbury's 9.1 WAR in 2011 may just be the top mark for any position over the past 25 years. Ells' 2013 comes in second with a 5.8 mark. The only other season over 5 was Ellis Burks in 1988 with 5.2.

Worst Season: The Sox have posted pretty decent results at the position without too many standouts. 1996 was the worst by WAR with Lee Tinsley and Darren Bragg splitting time to a tune of a -0.7 WAR.

Worst Defender: Like SS you seldom get "bad" defenders at CF. Johnny Damon was miscast as a true CFer for his career. He posted the following Def Ratings: 4.0, -2.9, -7.0, -13.7. He also had little to no arm.

Average Seasons (2.0+ WAR): 15 of 25

Above Average Seasons (4.0+ WAR): 8 of 25

Star Seasons (6.0+ WAR): 1 of 25

Notes: You almost want to shield your eyes from that mess between Ellis Burks and Carl Everett. Notice the name in 1992!

Top Red Sox CF over the Past 25 Years: Jacoby Ellsbury

Ells, Tacoby, etc. while inconsistent due to injuries provided the best bat, speed, defense combination that the Sox have seen at the position. He's likely moving onto another team this year but he has been the best the Sox have put out in the past 25.
