World Series score update: Dustin Pedroia, David Ortiz give Sox 1-0 lead in Game 5

The Red Sox are out to an early lead thanks to first-inning doubles from Dustin Pedroia and David Ortiz.

The Red Sox have a 1-0 lead two innings into Game 5 of the 2013 World Series thanks to doubles from David Ortiz and Dustin Pedroia in the first.

It's a new-look lineup for the Red Sox, but the Pedroia - Ortiz combo remains a constant, if in a different place now. With Adam Wainwright taking a while to settle into the game, he hung a breaking ball to Dustin Pedroia, and paid for it with a one-out double to left field. The red-hot David Ortiz stepped to the plate behind him, and did what he's done all series long:

The Red Sox wouldn't manage to capitalize on Ortiz' double by tagging on another run, but it was enough to put them up 1-0 in the early going--something that isn't too familiar to Boston of late. Jon Lester, meanwhile, is through two innings having faced the minimum, though it took an Allen Craig double play in the second to erase Carlos Beltran after a good piece of hitting got him to first.
