If the Red Sox end up winning the ALCS, who would you currently call your frontrunner for series MVP, based on the first 5 games?
Personally, Mike Napoli is my frontrunner. His offense has been the difference in both games 3 and 5. He was their only offense in game 3, and with the first run on a solo home run and the last run on a double and some good baserunning, he was half their offense in their game 5 4-3 victory, every run needed. Not to mention that his home run jump-started the Red Sox offense, leading to the other two runs of the game.
Without those contributions, the Red Sox are down 4 games to 1 ... in other words, the series is already over with the Tigers taking it. Ortiz's grand slam in game 2 was huge, to be sure, but dramatic as it was, it only led to one victory of the three. Without it, the Sox are still playing right now. Though it was big in terms of momentum shift.
Oh yeah, and Napoli has been pretty sharp with the glove, making some heads-up and cool-headed plays.
Who's your pick? If you don't see your option in the poll below, let me know and I'll add it.
