Everyone is talking about David Ortiz's grand slam that tied things up for the Red Sox in Game 2, but let's not forget that it was Boston catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia who delivered the game-winning hit in the ninth.
On a 3-1 pitch against Tigers started-turned-playoff-reliever Rick Porcello, Salty poked a ball out of the low part of the zone past the diving Jose Iglesias, and through the hole on the left side of the infield, plating Jonny Gomes from third:
Then, it was off to the races, as the Red Sox followed Salty from first base and chased him to second, where the celebration of a series all tied up could commence:
Now, it's basically a five-game series. The Tigers have home field, essentially, since there are three games left in Detroit and just a pair in Boston. Let's not worry about all of that today, though. For now, enjoy the fact that Saturday night's loss, and what looked like another defeat on Sunday, are erased, and we have an entire off day to enjoy being tied up rather than sitting down 0-2.
