We're not going to playoffs. Fine. We cut bait on the AGone/Crawford plan. Fine. It's better to admit mistakes than to languish in them. I'm not happy with this cavalcade of losing, but I can deal with it. But please grant me one bone. Apply all your efforts to winning the three games against the Yanks. BE the spoiler. We laid an egg in Oakland and Anaheim. I can deal with that. These teams, we do not hate. But if we play this right, it's possible for the Yanks to not make the playoffs. To paraphrase Gorky, "Miserable being needs more miserable being - Then - Is happy"

To wit, I want you to start someone other than Buccholz today and keep him for Tuesday. I want to see Buccholz/Lester/Dice-K. I want you to manage the next series like they were playoff games. Win at ALL costs. The next 15 games, run out the triple A lineup, but lineup the best 3 starters for the last three games of the season and treat it like it were October 2004.

The Yanks are stumbling down the stretch. They're having team meetings. They're complaining about the umpiring. They are there to be had. Do this for me. Do this for Red Sox Nation. Do this for my children and my unborn children. Do this for all posterity!
