I don't know what ails Ells, and I do hope the guy is healthy and this isn't something serious, but this is just one more thing to throw on top of Ells' pile of injuries and oddness from throughout the years.
He's extremely talented, but he's older than most people realize (29 years-old), he's only played over 71 games three times in his six-year career, he's seemingly the dictionary definition of "injury prone," and his agent is Scott Boras.
If I'm Ben Cherington, I'm trading Ells before next year's trade deadline. A package of good prospects and perhaps a middle of the rotation starter will do.
