During the last two home games of the regular season, the Boston Red Sox will honor their past in two different ways. First, every member of the 2004, World Series-winning club has been invited to be honored for their efforts in ending Boston's 86-year run without a championship. Second, the All-Fenway team, a project that has been built through fan voting throughout the 100th season at Fenway, will finally be unveiled.
According to the Boston Globe, "all uniformed personnel from 2004" were invited to attend the pre-game festivities on September 25. Whether they all show up, or how many will show up, is up in the air right now, but everyone is invited. If this means Ellis Burks gets to show up on the field at Fenway once more, or we'll be graced with yet another Pedro Martinez appearance, then it's all to the good. Just keep Kevin Millar away from the mic, please.
On the 26th, the All-Fenway squad will be unveiled prior to the regular season's final Fenway game. The Red Sox have scrubbed evidence of the campaign from the website created for it, so if you don't remember everyone involved, September 26 is the day to find out.
