Unlike some of the other Red Sox players who have been criticized for for either attitude, lack of performance, or both, Carl has always Manned-Up with positive attitude.
Yes, I know people will say, well he is doing what we originally expected or let's wait and see; I say look closer and he might be the hero after it is all said and done with.
First, this guy is risking further serious injury to battle on behalf of the team; he could easily shut it down have the surgery and be back in time for spring training, but he KNOWS the fans deserve more due to their expectations.
I see him battling with regard to taking pitches (an improvement): hitting for power; average (against lefties and righties); defense; arm-strength (though injured); and of course speed on the base paths.
Given all the noise going on around the Red Sox, there are many players who would shut it down, but not Carl. He is part of the regime that we need on this team and we cannot forget that not many Five-Tool talents come around that often.
