The Red Sox will have both catchers in the lineup Sunday night, but no Cody Ross as they aim for a series win against the New York Yankees.
Ryan Lavarnway will be the actual catcher tonight, with Jarrod Saltalamacchia playing the role of DH. It's good to see Lavarnway getting more time behind the plate in general, even if it's at the expense of Ross, since his ability to stick there could seriously impact the team's future plans.
Then again, if the stick doesn't come around at some point, it won't make much difference either way.
The Sox will stick with the same bottom three that was so productive last night in Podsednik, Ciriaco, and Punto. You can't exactly rely on that core to do damage against a guy like Kuroda, but alternatives are few, and right now riding a hot streak or two is about as good a strategy as any other.
Besides, with Josh Beckett on the mound, pitching the way he is, miracles are gonna be needed regardless of the lineup.
