So there are two ways to look at this.
1) These games don't matter, we're just playing out the season, etc.
2) Screw the Yankees. We sweep this, and we can at least put a dent in their chances to win the division, if we don't really do much for our own chance to win it.
When there's nothing to lose, you may as well hope that you can at least ruin the day of those miserable Yankees.
