There's movement on the Red Sox roster, but it's not trade-related. One day after punching a door in frustration, the outfielder is now almost certainly headed to the disabled list, with Nick Cafardo reporting that Sweeney is expected to miss eight weeks, which would bring us to nearly the end of the season.

Sweeney, acquired as part of the deal that sent Josh Reddick to Oakland in the offseason, has had an up-and-down season for the Red Sox. While he came out of the gates hot, hitting double after double, he quickly dropped off in May, and has been kept off the field by injuries for a decent portion of the last two months. His strong defense has been offset by a bat that has now dropped to a .675 OPS, leaving him a bench bat with the return of Jacoby Ellsbury and Carl Crawford.

Ryan Kalish will replace Sweeney on the major league roster. While he's had no success at the majors this year, he's once again found his bat at Triple-A, posting a .307/.388/.533 line in 75 at bats with four homers and six stolen bases. He'll have to contend for time with Daniel Nava, whose July struggles have left him on the bench more often than not of late.
