Remember that time when Dustin Pedroia was coming off of a thumb injury and everyone, including myself, thought he needed a stint on the DL? You should, it was less than a week ago. There was good reason for these feelings, though, as he had been hitting .145/.206/.194 in June up until this past Saturday. As Mark Daniels points out, though, it seems the Laser Show is ready to resume its typical course of destruction. (This article was written prior to yesterday's game, so Pedroia's now on a five game hitting streak, and is now 8-19 in that stretch with three walks). (Mark Daniels; Boston Herald)
- Yesterday, I linked to a story from ESPN about President Obama making a quick joke about the Youkilis trade, and the Romney camp lashing back. Well, leave it to the great Jeff Sullivan to articulate just how silly this whole situation is. (Jeff Sullivan; Baseball Nation)
- Speaking of that Youkilis trade, one of the pieces the Sox got back was RHP Zach Stewart. As it turns out, he made his debut in Pawtucket tonight, and performed quite solidly. (Paul Kenyon; Providence Journal)
- It's getting close to All-Star time, and fans are starting to wonder who will be representing their favorite teams in the Summer Classic. While I think Jarrod Saltalamacchia, David Ortiz, and Scott Atchison deserve the nod, Dave Cameron disagrees slightly. (Dave Cameron; Fangraphs)
