The Red Sox will once again in need of a spot starter Sunday as news has broken that Clay Buchholz will miss his scheduled start due to an illness.
Unfortunately, Boston's first choice for a spot start is on the hill tonight, with Franklin Morales filling in for Josh Beckett as the organization plays it safe with a sore shoulder, leaving them to turn to the minors.
Their most likely target will be Aaron Cook. After a lengthy recovery process for a busted up knee that derailed his first and only start with the team so far, Cook has only made one rehab start for the Pawtucket Red Sox, allowing three runs in four innings of work. He was supposed to pitch again tonight, but with Buchholz ailing his start has been cancelled, and Nick Cafardo is reporting that he's expected in Boston tomorrow.
Hopefully this next start goes off with fewer gory knee injuries.
