Game -31: Red Sox, Twins Begin Yet Another Mayor's Cup

Another spring, another series of tiring posts jokingly pretending that the Mayor's Cup is a real thing that almost matters.

Well not me! Not this year! You'll hear no more of it on Over The Monster until I forget I said this and bring it up next time. Or maybe even in tonight's recap.

Either way, though, it's a game against a real live major league team--or at least half of one, since the Twins are split squad. And, frankly, when it's the Twins that are split in half during spring training, can you really call it a major league team?

I mean, come on, this is a lineup not even a mother could love:



You may remember Aaron Bates and Ray Chang from their time in the Red Sox' system.

Josh Beckett will get the start for the Red Sox with Tony Doyle--a son of Concord--getting the nod for the Twins.
