Sometimes in life we step into the perfect situation. Things just seem to fall into place. That's what happened last night when the OTM Podcast was graced with Steven Goldman's insight, wisdom, and humor. Mr. Goldman took time out of his schedule to talk shop with Marc and myself. The topics discussed were mostly of the 'making the sausage' variety and I myself spent most of the discussion quietly spellbound. This was best for all involved. Trust me.
Having said that, we did talk some baseball. The podcast is split into roughly two hours. The first of which is devoted to writing and baseball writing and Steven's career to this point and including his new gig at Bleacher Report. Many wonderful stories and much insight into writing. The second part is more baseball-related. We discuss Jose Iglesias and Marc and I defend his upside to Steven. Then we get sidetracked on the 1978 season. Then I challenge the Yankees usage of Mariano Rivera. Things went like that, to be honest. We jumped from topic to topic, moving on to the next as we KO'd the first. It's an elucidating episode of the Over The Monster Podcast!
