I think we’re pretty well set. We’ve got 57, 58 guys. It’s a good mix."
-Reds general manager Walt Jocketty, asked by Reds' beat writer John Fay if the Reds' current roster will stand, or if Oswalt might be on their radar.

Jocketty said quite forcefully a while ago that they were never in the Oswalt race
I know GMs say a lot of things, but I believe his words were something along the lines of “No, we’re not, quit asking me, this is stupid.”

We'll see
At this point I’m not counting on Oswalt walking through that door until he actually walks through that door.

Or, apparently...
… gets dragged through that door by a bunch of large men and a couple of draft horses.

With our luck
On the way to his house our draft horses would pull a muscle and have to go on the DL,

As I said before, Oswalt must REALLY hate Boston to not want to come to the team
who will apparently make him the most money AND give him the best professional opportunity with a ready-made starting slot wide open for his taking.
Of course, he may simply be slow to make up his mind,
but he needs to decide soon, wherever he’s going. Missing too much spring work won’t help him win in April when it counts.
I dunno if it's a hatred of Boston thing
so much as it is a really liking the midwest thing.
Of course, he’s never even pitched at Fenway before
As someone from the midwest
it really isn’t all that great here.

That's right
that game you pitched was on the road. :P

Gotta keep him away
from Leigh Teixeira. Gotta show him Vermont, Fall River, places he might be comfortable for one year while he re-establishes his elite status so he can play wherever he wants wants to play if he wants to play.
Wake up Roy.
No one else wants you. Take the money, pitch good this year and find a spot spot close to home next year for more money.

Buster Olney said on WEEI today that the Red Sox standing offer to Oswalt is pretty much in line with what the Cardinals can offer him. If so it sounds like the Red Sox aren’t in it at all.

But
Aren’t the Cards only offering him a bullpen spot? If it is even money than it should come down to distance to home vs actually starting. To me that means we’d still be in it.

Check out our blog
it's possible that they'll only guarantee a bullpen spot
but it’s really hard to imagine starting Jake Westbrook when you have a healthy Roy Oswalt on your roster.
So
As of right now we’re looking at the below for starting pitching options, am I correct? I (with sadness) am writing off Oswalt as an option right now. Hopefully, I’m wrong but I do not expect him to don a Red Sox jersey. To clarify, beyond the first three below I am not listing them in any sort of ranking for the best option or most likely person to be in the rotation. Dice-K is not included below but he should be back at some point in the season and will likely get a chance at starting once he is.
1 – Jon Lester
2 – Josh Beckett
3 – Clay Buchholz
4 – Daniel Bard
5 – Aaron Cook (Has opt out clause on May 1st supposedly)
6 – Vincente Padilla
7 – Carlos Silva (Has opt out clause in mid-April supposedly)
8 – Alfredo Aceves
9 – Felix Doubront
10 – Alex Wilson
11 – Junichi Tazawa
12 – Andrew Miller
13 – Brandon Duckworth
14 – John Maine (Rumored to be brought in as a bullpen piece)
15 – Justin Germano (lol)
16-? Piles of poop
Am I missing anyone? Please tell me I’m missing someone?

Cherington isn't motivated by cookies apparently
so I tried something else. These are bacon wrapped hot dogs covered in cheese in pretzel buns.

I grill hot dogs with bacon wrapped around them.
The bacon tightens around the hot dog as it shrinks. Also, I cut a slice into the hot dog and stuff it with cheese before I grill it. Some would say I am a hero.

First time we did this was a few years ago
Drunk grilling during a housewarming party for my old place resulted in that beauty.

I would do something similar if my grill wasn't buried under a foot and a half of snow
It sounds delicious.
After you wrap the hot dog, but before you put it on the grill, try rolling it in a mixture of brown sugar, cloves, allspice, and worcestershire sauce. That’s what I rub my bacon in, and it’s the best bacon I’ve ever tasted.
