In the next few weeks, if the Red Sox cannot find a solid #3 starter (see: Marcum, Shawn, McCarthy, Brandon etc.) a trade with the White Sox makes too much sense not to happen. With Tyler Flowers behind the plate, the Southsiders have themselves a career .204 hitter in the big leagues in four seasons with the team. Nothing too promising. Also, according to CSN Chicago, the White Sox want to add another bullpen arm.
So, Salty and one of Miller/Melancon/Mortensen/Carpenter for Gavin Floyd. Or Salty and two of them for Floyd and a minor leaguer.
Obviously, Gavin Floyd is not the savior. However, this represents an obvious need for both teams and is an exact fit; the Red Sox need a durable pitcher for slot in at #3 and have the money to take on the contract, while the White Sox need a catcher and a bullpen arm(s).Here are Floyd's career stats:

The best part of all this is Floyd and Salty are FA at the end of the season. Plus, Floyd's salary is just $5mil against the tax, leaving plenty of room for another one or two "Cooks" in Pawtucket with higher prorated salaries (see: McCarthy, Brandon).
What say you?
