Alright theres a first time for everything so here goes nothing,
All in all are pitching staff is not the greatest (I know shocking right?) so this is what are staff looks like now...
Lester
Buchholz
Doubront
Lackey
?????
Yea its got some holes but those holes can be fixed. First thing im going to do is call up Mr. Peters and get back our old friend Justin Masterson. I strongly believe Masterson would thrive in Boston now that Farrell's back in town. I believe a package of Doubront, Ranaudo and Juan carlos linares should do the trick. After that im gonna shore up the back end of the rotation with an arm from the free agent market. I think a great addition would come from Dan Haren. Haren coming off one of his worse seasons could be had for a 2yr/18mil deal with a club option for a third year. Harens been one of the most consistant players the past decade with only two years with an ERA over 4(Last year and 06). Harens bound for a bounce back year and I think Boston would be a great place for that.
So heres the new look rotation...
Lester
Buchholz
Haren
Masterson
Lackey
Not to shabby huh?
No its not as big of an issue as the starting rotation but the bullpen could use some help as well. Bard should stay in the pen were he belongs no "ands","ifs" or "buts" about. On a brighter side Tazawa was lights out last Season in Boston and although Aceves might have warn out his welcome but he is still a very good man to have inn your pen. As well Craig Breslow is a pitcher i think is worth keeping around for depth reasons. What the sox need is to find those two pitchers to build the bridge over the 7th and 8th innings to get to Bailey. While tazawa i think could fit either the 7th or 8th inning roles i think the two guys the sox should sign are Jose Valverde and Mike Adams. Yes ik even more players coming off down years but hey I got good reasons for it. Valverde is not gonna find another closing job this year so sign him to a bobby jenks type role/contract 2yrs/10mil and hopefully he does the opposite of jenks(pitch well and not get arrested). Mike Adams i think can be a great addition to the pen as a setup guy hes done it in texas the past few years and the sox could really use that. He should be had for a 3yr/15-18mil contract. so lets look at the bullpen now.
Middle:
Bard
Aceves
Valverde
Breslow
Atchison
7Th:Tazawa
8Th: Adams
Closer: Bailey
If I was Farrell i wouldn't mide picking up the phone to bring in one of them.
Now the main event...The line-up. Here is what it looks like now.
CF: Ellsbury
2B: Pedroia
3B: Middlebrooks
DH: Ortiz
1B: Jerry Sands
C: Salty/Ross/Lavarnway
RF: Kalish
LF: Nava/Gomes
SS: Iglesias/Ciriaco
The first four was good but i dont think i can say the same about the last 5. Lets start in order to fix this mess. Mike Napoli should be the guy the Sox throw there money at. Napoli would fit great in Boston he's always had succes here and is exactly what the sox need a powerful, versatile 1B that can also catch. I think he will come with a 4yr/52mil deal. Right now the catching spot is fine but if Lavarnway can prove that its his spot expect the sox to move Salty at the deadline and that the first club to be in line is the Cubs since Salty was Theos guy. RF, this ones my favorite. I think for what Swisher produces hes not worth the deal he wants, so with that fire sale going on down down in Miami, I think you know where im going. I want to kill two birds with two stones so I think Stanton and Escobar would fit great in Boston. the Deal i would offer is Jackie Bradley Jr, Henry Owens, Allen Webster, Jose Iglesias, Brandon Jacobs and Garin Cecchini should get the deal done. I am very reluctant to give up Bogarets and Barnes. Last off we still need another LF. Bringing back Cody Ross is a must do. He provides pop a solid glove and has great clubhouse chemistry. As much as id like to see Swisher come to boston the contract he wants is not worth the production he gives but i think hed be great in the clubhouse.
So this is how the new line up would look....
CF: Ellsbury
2B: Pedroia
RF: Stanton
DH: Ortiz
3B: Middlebrooks
1B: Napoli

C: Salty/Ross/Lavarnway

That is a scary new line up if i dont say so myself
