As far as I know, the offseason trading, keeper, and draft rules, especially regarding trading draft picks, have not been formally established. Can we try to make a clear and concise set of rules that can be posted in each OTM league for all to see? I'll take a first stab at it I guess:
Offseason Trade Rules:
-Dates: Trades are allowed from the day the regular MLB season ends (10/3/12) until 3 days before the draft (3/21/13).
-Trades involving only players traded for other players will be proposed, accepted, and processed through ESPN (same as trades during the season).
-Trades involving draft picks shall be proposed and accepted by the 2 owners involved, and then each owner shall send the commissioner an e-mail to confirm the trade.
-Draft pick trading may occur as follows:
-No draft picks in the first 5 rounds may be traded.
-For any draft pick traded, there needs to be a draft pick coming back, so that all teams still get a total of 18 draft picks between Rounds 6 and 23.
-Draft pick trade example: Team A trades Matt Holliday to Team B for Team B’s 6th round draft pick. This trade inherently also includes Team A’s last pick (i.e. 23rd Round) going back to Team B
-When a trade involving draft picks is completed, the commissioner shall move the players involved to their new team and keep track of the draft picks via a spreadsheet (so that the draft order can be manually set prior to the league draft)
2013 Keeper Rules:
-Teams may keep up to 5 players.
-Keepers will be locked 1 day before the draft (3/23/13)
2013 Draft Rules:
-Dates: The draft will occur on Sunday, March 24, 2013, Time TBD.
-Draft Order: The draft order shall be a reverse of the final standings (click on "Standings", then click on "Final Standings"). Beginning in Round 6, it will be a snake draft. For Rounds 1 thru 5, see below.
-The first 5 rounds of the draft will allow any teams to draft who are not keeping 5 players. For example, Team A is keeping 3 players and gets draft picks in Rounds 4 & 5. The draft order in each of the first 5 rounds shall be a reverse of the final standings (click on "Standings", then click on "Final Standings").
