It's like Aliens...
… just pinker, fatter, hairier, sweatier and less able to pitch effectively.

John Lackey's reaction to Scarlett Johansson's nude pics
"We’re the Sox. Not Apple Sox. We ain’t no Barbeque Sox. We’re the Red Sox.’’ - David Ortiz
What I don't get is
how come JD Drew is an asshole for not showing any emotion, while John Lackey is an asshole for showing his emotions?
As ugly and gross looking as Lackey may be, while every holier-than-thou pundit is acting incensed that Lackey ‘had the nerve to glare at Tito!’, all I saw at the time was a frustrated pitcher who was probably far angrier at himself than anything else.
Is the truth simply more of what Rogue brought up? We simply find it easier to hate on some of our players because they simply aren’t ‘likable’ enough?
NBA Officiating - Corrupt? Incompetent? Which is worse? Does it matter? It sucks.
Not to be nit-picky
doesn’t being “unlikable” by definition make you easier to hate?

technically
“aren’t ‘likable’ enough” != “unlikable”
I.E. – those are not equivalent. The former could be the latter, but not necessarily. You could still be ‘likable’ but not likable ‘enough’. :-D
I do understand that for you, Lackey probably qualifies as ‘unlikable’.

personally I've got no problem with his glare
or with JD’s lack of emotion. I do have a problem with Lackey’s pitching.
Agreed
He can glare all he wants, there’s just something kind of amazing that he glared at Francona after being dominated by a terrible team. Know when it’s okay to glare/not glare — even Drew looks pissed off sometimes.

+1
I have no real problem with JD’s lack of emotion. I do have a problem with him being made of glass and not playing through the occasional pain.
Lackey just pisses everbody off because not only does he not produce any sort of positive result, his emotions don’t seem to reflect reality. No need to get angry about getting pulled because you stick big fella.

"being made of glass"
Until unfortunately this year, JD was never truly ‘made of glass’. Through the end of last year, Drew played in more games than any other Red Sox during his tenure except Big Papi. Youk had been ahead of him going into last year but missed a huge chunk of the season.
And in 4 of the 5 seasons from 2006-2010 he played in at least 137 games (‘only’ 109 in 2008 when he actually WAS injured). If you check the numbers, you find that on the average MLB roster, only 1 -3 players typically manage to play in 130+ games in a typical season. And usually those are DH/1B types.
On our current roster this year, we have exactly 4 guys who will manage to play over 130 games : Ellsbury, Pedroia, Gonzalez and Ortiz. Crawford will manage 130 if he plays all 8 remaining. So not surprising two of the guys who will manage it are a first baseman and a DH.
If Drew was made of glass, then he’s not alone.

I know you don't like the guy but...

Yes. There's that.
And then there’s the “I don’t think I pitched that bad, if that was in another park, bad bounce, dropped in the wrong places, whatever else” John Lackey.

Although, I will admit that he took full responsibility for that particular outing.

I thought it was all Fenway's fault...
“[On Sunday] they scored on a pop fly they called a hit, which is a joke,” said Lackey, referring to a popup that was misplayed into three runs. “[On Monday], they score on a broken-bat ground ball and a fly ball anywhere else in America [except in Fenway Park]. And [Pedroia’s] fist-pumping on second like he did something great.”
The only cure for my lingering resentment is a sub-5 ERA. Alas.

Couldn't it just be a 'what took you so long?' glare?

I was originally going to just post the header
but figured it could be seen as an actual attack, not a reminder of the hilarity.
At the end of the day
Crawford’s contract will end up the worst!

Quite possibly...
… but I’ll always hate Lackey more.

My hate for Crawford
The batting stance, plate discipline, neck’s tattoo…has no bounds! I think I hate him more than Lugo and Renteria combined.
