I’m almost in favor in riding the Scutaro pony as far as it takes us. And keeping Jedi too. We know how good he can be when he is healthy and he costs nothing in the scheme of things until 2014. At this point he probably won’t net much in trade anyway. I suspect that Rollins will stay in Philly and I want nothing to do with Reyes. If Hardy was still available I’d like to go after him, but he ain’t. Stick with what we have unless a great trade can be made.

I want nothing to do with Rollins either.

I wonder if this can't all be traced back to Lowrie's broken wrist?
Putting extra stress on the shoulder, long-term consequences, etc.
That being said, it makes no difference to the team whether it’s a consistently recurring injury or a bunch of different ones. As is, he’s no use to the team unless healthy, and he’s never healthy, sadly enough.

I mean if it's a nerve bruise
it’s from when he ran into crawford, right? I don’t think this sounds related
Ah, missed the bruise.
Also don’t even remember that run-in.

It was actually the breeze caused by a near-miss

I think unfortunately
The injury issues lower the trade value of what he could bring and reduce the number of teams interested (at least right now). If he could just put a good 130-150 game season together I think more teams would be interested. But he just hasn’t been able to do that.

Nerve damage is
tricky and can have unexpected side effects ranging from weakness to paralysis. As with other famously understated injuries like Ellsbury’s ribs and Papi’s wrist, it may not resolve itself quickly. He’s still the Jedi but needs a full recovery. He’s no more made of glass than Ells, Ortiz, Savard, Welker. But he has sure been unlucky on both diagnosis and Tx sides.

Yeah I agree...I didn't say that he is made of glass
And I agree that he needs a full recovery and it may take time for that. Someone mentioned the possibility of a trade and I do think other teams would consider the nature of what he has had for injuries and know that they may not be a potential recurring issue.
At the same time, when other teams evaluate trade options I’m sure some would look at it and say, “Let’s look elsewhere first” whereas when he was tearing it up and seemingly healthy in April those teams might look at him closer. I was only speaking specifically about trade possibilities and his perceived value.
He does need time to heal, and while I’m not a doctor I do know that nerve issues can have drastic effects on several parts of the body needed for an athlete (or any person for that matter).
