but they each have (relatively) smallish SUVs and it bugs the crap out of me. Dad’s an architect so that at least makes sense, but 99% of people with SUVs have absolutely no reason to do so, and are just wasting precious resources. And also drive like total assholes.

Yep. couldn't agree more

Same for people with trucks. Of all the people in my neighborhood, I’d day only two people “earn” their truck. The rest of them just have it to look cool. Except I think they’re all inconsiderate for wasting CO2 to look cool.

I dislike prius drivers for that

Although if you’re willing to go left lane speeds, then whatever. I’ve just spent more time than I like stuck behind priuses who felt like 65 was enough to buy them a ticket to the left lane.

Well, for one, I hate midsize to death

I have an inherited Malibu now, and it’s shite. Way too big.

From what I had seen when I was pricing it out a few years ago, the Prius was getting about 50 mpg, while the Mini was getting 40. And the difference is, the Mini is fun to drive.

by Sean O on Aug 27, 2011 7:13 PM EDT up reply actions

the bottom line is

the Prius, to me, is so noxious because it’s a car for people who hate cars. I love cars, but I want to find something that isn’t like driving a minivan, and doesn’t destroy the earth.

The Yanks schedule in September may be a differentiator.

They’ve got an 11 game road trip now, since one of today’s games was rescheduled for their off day on Sept 8. They are scheduled to play 2 tomorrow, if they only get one in, presumably they play two on Monday. If they get none, they’ll play on Sept 15, their only remaining off date in September. And, oh yeah, they still have to pick the day in the mid September TB series where they will play 2. It could be a DH the day before the final Boston series.

But on the other hand, I doubt I’d know it if they had.

by Maeamian on Aug 27, 2011 10:09 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah. When I was younger I wanted to go in the 8th inning just so I could go to Fenway and I thought it was awesome that it was free… even if it was 1.5 or 2 innings. Yup, I’ve been obsessed with baseball for a long time.

Along those lines and sorta OT… but right before I moved I got the “B” logo tattooed onto my foot! haha

But I have another one that I wanna get first.

by Maeamian on Aug 27, 2011 10:17 PM EDT up reply actions

Sweet!!! It hurt and it’s still healing, but I’m glad that I did it. What I do for my teams! The upper arm would be awesome too, but I’m a girl, so that would look weird and I wanted it to be small.

by JLS89 on Aug 27, 2011 10:19 PM EDT up reply actions

Well, I've already got a few tattoos

But foot tattoos are very good on girls in general, and there ain’t nothing wrong with sports teams. The healing process is pretty quick if you take good care of the tattoo properly.

by Maeamian on Aug 27, 2011 10:22 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah, I’m trying to take good care of it… lots of socks and sneakers which is hard when its 90 degrees out. I don’t know if I’m going to get another one/I don’t know what I would get, but I love my “B” and can’t wait to wear sandals.

by JLS89 on Aug 27, 2011 10:23 PM EDT up reply actions

How recently did you get it?

I’m looking forward to getting my B, although I haven’t decided which arm I want it on.

by Maeamian on Aug 27, 2011 10:27 PM EDT up reply actions

Last Friday! I had a lot of life changes in the past week/ not even a week that it’s sorta crazy!

by JLS89 on Aug 27, 2011 10:27 PM EDT up reply actions

It’s on my right foot, and I would probably get it on my right arm, but that’s cause I’m a lefty so then I can look at it! haha

by JLS89 on Aug 27, 2011 10:28 PM EDT up reply actions

Oh wow, that’s pretty recent, sounds like a fun time! I would generally think right arm for me because it’s my dominant one, but I already have a tattoo on the inner arm on that one, and while they wouldn’t clash, they also wouldn’t look good together. Plus, my left side is uninked and that feels unbalanced.

by Maeamian on Aug 27, 2011 10:31 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeahh…. it’s been a whirlwind but the Sox have kept me sane! I would go left side cause then it will balance it out.

by JLS89 on Aug 27, 2011 10:34 PM EDT up reply actions

Hah. Sanity is not usually the result I get from watching the Sox, but there you have it. The one thing about putting it on my left arm would be that I’d feel weird about putting the sox on my weaker arm.

by Maeamian on Aug 27, 2011 10:39 PM EDT up reply actions

Well the games give me at least one constant in my life… except for tomorrow which will be weird. I completely understand that reasoning about your left arm, which is why I’m surprised that I got my tattoo on my right foot cause it’s my weak side.

by JLS89 on Aug 27, 2011 10:41 PM EDT up reply actions

I can see that, these next few days are going to be weird then. But then we play the yankees, who won’t have had two days off. It’ll be fun!

THIS

I guess when there’s no wind when you start to sail to the launching ramp, and you have to have one person row in the 2,000 lb 25 ft boat while you get in the dinghy and tow the boat for the first 3/4 mile, and then have to row the dinghy 1.2 miles from the ramp back to the town dock where it lives for the summer, that is to be expected…….

So Bedard pitches 4.0 shut-out innings

and will not qualify for the win.

Aceves has pitched 3 shut-out innings so far. Is in good position to be awarded the win.

Who will get his first? Bedard’s first win as a Red Sox or Wake’s 200th?

How do I answer the question of what has been going on with me this year? I’m still trying to figure that out. I went through a lot. There was a lot of change, but I don’t like to make excuses. Only thing I can really say is I’m having a bad year for whatever reason that might be. I really can’t just put my finger on one thing and say that’s the reason why. All I can say is for some reason, I’m having a bad year.
