I may be overreacting, but it seems to me like the Marlins and outfielder Logan Morrison are ready to part ways. Morrison is a left-handed outfielder, and we already have plenty of them, but he also still has minor league options. Should the Marlins decide that he is not part of his future, then I believe he could be had for a song from them, a la Cameron Maybin or Andrew Miller last offseason.
Morrison has a 115 wRC+ this year for the Marlins, which compares favorably to Carl Crawford's 84 this year. While I have no expectations whatsoever that Theo or Francona would start Morrison over their high-priced superstar, should Ryan Kalish continue to struggle in the minors in 2012, Morrison would provide outfield depth in the minor leagues. He would also be a more reliable option to replace Jacoby Ellsbury, should it become necessary to bid farewell to our center fielder.
Last, but not least, he's already got a nickname here: "Studly Mansworth."
