The eight inning last night was a good example of over managing. Aceves breezed through the 1st two batters. Span beats out an infield hit and is balked to 2nd base.(a dubious call by the ump) Still no reason to take out Aceves. If he wanted a lefty to face Kubel, thats' what Rich Hill is for. One tough lefty and out. Instead, he brings in "my best" in Papelbon at an inappropriate time, asking him to get 4 outs . Pap throws about 16 pitches, and blows the lead. What kind of message does this send to Hill, and why even warm him up if you are not going to use him. Sox win in spite of their incompetent manager.
