All Star Ballot - Write In Campaign: Jed Lowrie
So, this morning I wandered over to the Red Sox MLB website, and saw the premature posting of the All Star Ballot and our Red Sox players on it. While my first shudder may have been seeing our candidate for Catcher pictured beautifully in the lower left corner, and I can see the perennial All-Stars the Red Sox are likely to end up with in this summer's classic: Dustin Pedroia at 2B, Adrian Gonzalez at 1B, Carl Crawford in LF... perhaps Kevin Youkilis at 3B? Maybe even Ellsbury in CF or Drew in RF?
However, the true test of our Red Sox fan base will be the successful election of our starting SS. No, not that Marco Scutaro guy that's pictured and on the official ballot. (Yes, I know all he's done for the team, and do think he's a hell of a player.) For my money, though, we're going to have to vote early, and vote often for our All-Star starting SS: Jed Lowrie.
So... let's get the campaign underway. I realize it's going to be a tough one: write in campaigns are rarely successful (except for that fun one up in Alaska last November)... but we owe it to the man who turned our season around. (Okay, a little overstated... but still...)
Write in Jed Lowrie!!

Is the surely common mistake of writing him in as 'Jed Williams' going to be the hanging chad of the 2011 MLB All-Star campaign?
I believe so.

Ha ha ha!
I like this so much, I almost want to campaign for him as Jed Williams, and watch what MLB does when Jed Williams wins the spot at SS.
I'm in
I’m pretty sure Derek Jeter could have an OPS of .300 and 40 errors and still be named the starter, but if Tito figures out who the starting shortstop ought to be and Lowrie gets enough votes, he might get enough attention to be named a sub.
Just to be clear, the unintelligible bit isn’t a reflection of your typing fail, but rather the idea that Jeter is a good shortstop.
I certainly got that
I just didn’t want anyone to mistake my comment to mean that your comment on Jeter’s so-called “intangibles” was unintelligible — it’s the idea of Jeter’s intangibles that is unintelligible.
voted 25 times for him
I guess we could all just make 50 emails each, and vote 25 times for him from each one… That’d help his cause
Theo, if you are reading this, please release Dice-K. Your joke on the Boston people isn't funny.
I have two email addresses already, and have historically cast 50 ballots.
Therefore… I don’t see any reason why I cannot cast 50 write in votes for Jed this year.
Does anyone know if you get an error for putting in a player who doesn't exist?
I want to use my write-in votes on the NL side for He Who Is Death, the Dark God Aberran.
He plays for the Phillies.

No idea.
Like I said above… almost tempted to enter Jed Williams and see if we could get a big enough campaign to get him the win, and then watch MLB try to figure out what to do with that selection.
I mean, as discussed in yesterday’s game thread… if fans can vote Peyton Hillis for the cover of Madden 2012, is there any doubt we could organize a campaign to vote for Jed Williams?
