I wanna see Ranaudo try to develop a splitter as his 3rd offering (in place of the changeup).
I think it could really work out nicely for him when he reaches the Majors.
And I also would like to see him develop a cutter or 2-seamer which I imagine he eventually will.

Agree on the cutter/2-seamer.
I’ve always been a huge fan of standard changeups over splitters. But he definitely needs some movement fastballs to mess with guys heads. Send him to Halladays-boot-camp-for-cutters for a summer or something.
Gorgeous offensive lines
from Hazelbaker and Rey-Rod. What’s with all the caught-stealings from Hazelbaker, though? Is everyone just expecting him to steal?

From what I've heard, they want to keep him there for a bit to learn the routine and get used to pro baseball.
Along with work on that changeup.
Ohhhh, marvelous!
I wanna see him in Salem too.
I don’t get how he can get anything more out of pitching in the Sally League, good changeup or not.

Ranaudo and Weiland
Can Ranaudo get enough AAA in 2012 to line himself up to replace Dice in 2013? That seems to be the goal here, advance him quick enough in 2011 to get him true competition in 2012 so he’s ready to start in 2013. Correct?
Will Weiland stay as a starter? If so, is he valuable enough as trade bait?
Ranaudo could be up sometime next year.
Just not sure about what his innings cap will be.

I would not be surprised for him to see Portland by the end of the year. If they really want to push development he could start in Pawtucket next year (see Iglesias, Jose) and see a late season call up. Of course, if he keeps collecting 0 ER starts he could be starting a playoff series for us this year.
"We are not normal, We are Legends. People will tell their kids about us." - Deon Butler before Ohio State Game 2008.
I really hope he sees some time in Portland.
1st round talent out of college…he should be embarrassing single-A hitters.
The real test is AA and I hope they give him a taste this season (even if the changeup doesn’t come around).
His fastball and curve are just that good.
I saw a late season start from Ranaudo on ESPN3 and his velo was 91-93, I believe, and it looked as if it was coming in much harder b/c of his over-the-top arm slot coming in from a 6’7 frame.
Now he’s throwing even harder.
And it seems as if his bender has returned to form where it’s a lethal 12-6 drop of a cliffer!
I hope his changeup (or splitter if he decides to go that route) can eventually become a decent offering, but whether or not that happens, I really would like him to see at least a month of AA.

He has put up respectable numbers over 2010 and the beginning of this season.
He’s never gonna crack the Red Sox rotation but I wonder if he could end up being a serviceable middle of the rotation guy for a team needing starting pitching.

McKenry
Dude’s not even on our prospect big board. Let’s shock the world and call him up!
