Red Sox Community Projections 2011: Jon Lester

We've put it off for long enough. Now we have to get Jon Lester out of the way before tomorrow's game, when he will finally take his well-deserved spot as the team's opening day starter against the Texas Rangers.

Will he finally cast off his early-year troubles and make a run at the Cy Young? Will he collapse because you are a Yankees fan and would really appreciate it if he did? Or will he be the same old Lester?

I was tempted to go for prudent and realistic (read: dour and pessimistic), the way I did for Beckett

But then I thought, screw it. I want Jon Lester to win the motherfucking Cy Young award. I want Jon Lester to make it clear that he’s on another level, that he is a god damn pitching cyborg sent from the future to single-handedly save us from Yankee dominion.

This year the offense gives him great leads, and the Bull pen holds them for him, giving him four wins which would have been no decisions for him last year.

I swear I didn't wait for yesterday...

Traveling on vacation in Colorado, and managed to see the end of the opener, after a few issues with our room upon arrival here. (In other words, I got to see Big Papi’s home run and Bard’s implosion…)

For Lester, I still see the Cy Young as well:
