All Signs Point Towards Dale Sveum Taking Chicago Cubs Job

Hmm well done, Theo

According to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal, the Chicago Cubs have offered Dale Sveum their manager position. Rosenthal also says that the Red Sox did not make Sveum an offer, and it appears that he will take the Cubs offer and take over their team in 2012.

There's a lot I could go into here, but it's midnight. What are everyone's thoughts? Cherington has said that the managerial field would most certainly be "expanded" with Sveum apparently off the table. Sandy Alomar Jr, Gene Lamont and Torey Lovullo are still on the board. Mackanin is no longer considered a candidate at this point.

My guess is they are maybe taking a second look at maybe guys like Ryne Sandberg or Dave Martinez to fill a field of five. What are your thoughts? Out of the remaining field, who should be our skipper in 2012? This is certainly a question that is now harder to answer than it would have been about 24 hours ago....
