With a pretty weak starting pitching market this offseason, the Red Sox may need to explore some trades to satisfy their needs for starting pitching. I just don't see them going after C.J. Wilson with Ben Cherington at the helm, as it seems it is not his way. Therefore, I think the Sox should go to the Giants- who have a surplus of young pitching and a deficit of offense. One of their more movable (and affordable) pitchers would be Jonathan Sanchez. Sanchez had an injury-riddled down year in 2011, seeing him go 4-7 with a 4.26 ERA and 4.30 FIP in 101 innings. However, he was great the previous year, going 13-9 with a 3.09 ERA and 205 strikeouts. After the down-year, the Sox may not even have to part with Kevin Youkilis to get Sanchez. They may be able to part with Josh Reddick as well as Jed Lowrie/Mike Aviles to get Sanchez. He may not be the best pitcher available, but I would be happy to see him in a Red Sox uniform if we could get him at a fairly low price. Thanks for reading, and comment what you think!!!
