You mean
we might finally be able to stop talking about chicken and beer, and start talking about the moves this team needs to make to improve?
Only chicken and beer can address our problems!

Peter Gammons...
…comes off looking like a huge idiot. The Cubs’ system is not nearly that bad, and it’s not like the Red Sox’s system is that great. Chicago lost a lot in the Garza deal, which came after being ranked eighth by Baseball America entering 2011. They’re probably closer to 20th now but certainly not bottom three.

Sox system a lot better than it's getting credit for right now.
Yeah, AA and AAA were mostly barren (with a couple exceptions such as Middlebrooks). But the lower minors are absolutely stuffed with high upside talent after Theo went nuts in the draft the last two years. We have some good players who had good years this year.

Well
News out of Chicago seems to be that it’s a done deal and that compensation might not involve Szczur/BJackson/McNutt. Going to be curious what the Cubs gave up in the end.
as in one of the three you mean?
if it’s reported that Hoyer is also joining Theo, if we’re getting better-than-expected players, I’m assuming we’re probably also going to be sending something in San Diego’s direction.
sorry if it wasn't clear
but supposedly, Bruce Levine came on Waddle and Silvy (only reporting this 2nd hand off of information at a Cubs site) and said that he didn’t think that any of those three were being sent as compensation.
haha I completely misread your first comment
I missed the “not”. So I thought you were saying there was a chance that Szczur or Jackson was involved.

That covers what Levine reported on the radio.
Of course, David Kaplan just said on twitter that if McNutt is part of the deal, then it’s the price of doing business, so it’s possible McNutt is still involved. But Levine’s source seems pretty sure it doesn’t include McNutt.
I do wonder if the Red Sox decided to target low level upside pieces instead. Going to be very curious about the compensation as it will likely set a precedent for this type of move.
