I really do not understand what the Toronto Blue Jays are trying to do. Are they trying to improve this year and compete for the wild card? Or are they trying to completely rebuild even if it means last place this year? Or are they themselves trying to figure this out by blindly trading players? They traded Shaun Marcum away, and they essentially traded Vernon Wells for Frank Francisco and Juan Rivera. Frank Francisco, to me, is nothing but a big contract. Rivera is average at best, and while getting out of the Wells contract was good for them, giving away Napoli and taking on a bad reliever with an even worse contract is ridiculous. The only thing I can think of is they didn't want to or didn't think they can resign Napoli. Can anyone else elaborate on this?
