Comments: Tejeda busted out a bit in 2010 at High-A as a 20 year old. His 0.305/0.342/0.453 slash line equates to a wOBA of 0.356. He also hit 11 HR and stole 17 bags. He has a wiry frame that more power may develop from. He is an advanced player for his age so there is time for refinement and power-development as his body continues to fill out. Up until last season, he struggled with plate disciplne but seemed to turn the page a bit in 2010. Moved to 2B from SS due to some minor fielding deficiencies but seemed to fit well at the 2-bag. Soxprospects uses a MLB comparison of Brandon Phillips.
2010 Stats (High-A):
PA: 552
BA: 0.305
OBP: 0.342
SLG: 0.453
OPS: 0.795
wOBA: 0.356
wRC+: 119
HR/SB: 11/17
Analysis: Tejeda has time to develop and has the atheleticism and tools to do so. Probably looking at a start again in High-A with a move up to Portland midway through the season. He could be climbing prospect boards quickly if he can make some refinements.
Tomorrow: Jason Varitek
