Game Thread: Rays @ Red Sox -- September 6, 2010

Tampa Bay Rays at Boston Red Sox, Sep 6, 2010 7:10 PM EDT

Good evening to those still with us.

It's Lestah time! Sure, the O's beat him up a little last time, but he struck guys out, so it's all good!

W-L G GS CG SHO SV BS IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP
2010 - Jon Lester 15-8 27 27 2 0 0 0 176.0 145 70 64 12 65 186 3.27 1.19

Then there's this Niemann guy who's been kicked around the last few games.

W-L G GS CG SHO SV BS IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP
2010 - Jeff Niemann 10-5 24 24 1 1 0 0 149.2 136 67 66 21 49 107 3.97 1.24

But he should have a good shot at rebounding, because the Sox are employing the "surrender lineup." That's right, if you still have faith that this team is going to the postseason, well, you're even more optimistic than the Sox themselves.

At least it should be interesting, though. All four of those bottom guys are potentially big parts of the future.

Go Sox rookies! And Lowrie! And Lester! And the rest of them too I guess!

If Beltre hits 30 dingers and drives in 100, can he be some kind of Type-AA free agent maybe? Possibly? I know Elias likes that kind of stuff. And I like draft picks!

I like it too.

Jason White looks like another fantastic RB in the making, too. And our defense was…surprising.

At one point Wisconsin had 125 or so total yards to -4 for UNLV. The only thing I’m worried about is Tolzien is still throwing picks.

If it’s a positional thing, then you could say the same about Rizzo. However, if you can it, there’s always the DH spot.

I’m thinking it would have to be a catcher or SS (we do have Iglesias though) . That’s a premier prospect, probably top 10 1B, so I’d want a something that is scarce.

As for Navarro

He’s exhibited everything you could want out of a middle infielder at the minors. Why couldn’t he be a big part? He might even have the pop to stick at 3rd.

USG

by Ben Buchanan on Sep 6, 2010 7:40 PM EDT up reply actions

He could be a SS, but we have Lowrie and Iglesias.

I suppose he could be a 3B. That’s acutally what he would probably be if anything. He OPSd .781 in Portland. That’s not bad, but it’s not impressive either.

However if it did happen, don’t you think Theo & Co would actually want to make sure that Gonzo would want to come here and for an extended period of time? Plus keep in mind, the Padres are living dangerously right now and they could be out of the playoffs if they keep sucking.

Besides, Youk at 3B is really not a bad idea. That would also make Lars expendable, but maybe that’s all part of the plan (as the Joker says).
