All things considered
Its just 3 runs, shouldn’t be a huge deal, New york was gonna score regardless
Beckett, imploding
This is very reminiscent of his last start vs the yanks….here we go
Its his fault
Forget about the laundry list of batters Beckett has hit, and always seems to hit at least one per start.
You can not call that.

Well, been watching but not now, I just can't this is the end of the season.
I love Lester and Pedroia!!! ITS MAN LOVE!
season ended
with Youkilis injury, as far as the postseason was concerned.
With Youk healthy and Pedey coming back, there was still hope if the pitching could step up.
Now too many things are going wrong.

I really hope I'm wrong, but Dusty coming back isn't going save us like everyone thinks it's going to to,
Guys coming off DLs,
1: Get rested every other day, 2: Normally don’t come back hot and struggle for a couple of weeks.
If it was early in the season that’s one thing but time isn’t on our side.
I mean in a situation where Youk wasn't hurt
Before Youk got hurt, there was a lot of talk about when Dusty comes back are back in this, but more than likely he wouldn’t be himself for the first couple of weeks.
Don't the Yankees own Beckett?

OK, remember that Beckett curveball earlier in the game that their pitch zone showed as being off the plate?
That was closer than some of those were shown in the overhead view. I’m fairly positive they edited that tracking **** purely to make their “edge of the plate” point.

Oh, are you saying originally it looked like a strike and they made it look off a bit?
Dunno, never put anything past ESPN

It was shown as off the plate on their tracker.
That little white strike zone they throw up there. I’m just saying they edit them when they need to make a point about past pitches.
Beckett’s probably registered as off the plate. I just doubt all of Moseley’s were just perfectly on the edge like the graphic showed.

This is half on Beckett and half on Cash.
I swear Cash decreases our pitcher’s skill.

When did Ellsbury go on the DL, again?
I think he was a .300 hitter last year, the .186 looks like a small sample size monster to me.

.301 with a .355 OBP
Not exactly what you’re looking for from a leadoff man.

He's not good, but he is a major leaguer.
I wouldn’t mind a trade, but who is his replacement?

It's not unreal for a player to be struggling coming off an extended DL stint.
What’s bad is for the teams manager not to realize this and hit him lead-off
Nah
Hansen never had any major league success.

Well, no, the championship meant everything, but giving Beckett the huge dollars this year...
not the best use of our money
Exactly, we should have made Beckett earn it

I simply say I wouldn't call Ells with Beckett or Lowell because Ells is only 26 years old and still coming off an injury.
Lowell is at the end of his carear, Beckett is Beckett.
Next year will be a good year to judge Ells, a full year playing a corner outfield position, I think he will be impressive defensively in LF and will find his swing again.
Beckett is a mess too

That's the thing. Beckett was fine last year, maybe he faded at the end, but overall.
His season is completely fucked this year.

they would be easier to deal than a Zambrano since they pitch in the AL East

true, but no one was willing to pay as much before this year.
will they be willing to pay that much after this year?
I doubt it, I'm just saying I do not see them as an albatross like the Z or Zito deals

getting to what you said about Lackey being an inning eater.
I would rather have him than Dice. Dice doesn’t eat innings.

I was listening to a Sox gam last month
Castiglione said the Dodgers were trying to unload Manny & were working on a deal with the White Sox but it fell through. Surprised me, I had not been following the trades or the game while studying but it seems Manny has worn out his welcome .

he thinks he is a rock music star
The certified ambassador of all things good and great, here at OTM.
yes, but dumb fans factor in the posting fee to his performance
The certified ambassador of all things good and great, here at OTM.
That's true, but that's the cost of bussiness and has nothing to do with Dice-K personally.
He is only making 8 mil a year.
I can see adding the money to his contract as total money spent, but it’s just how the posting system in Japan works, it allows teams to have compensation for losing major talent.
I think the Beckett extension will bite us big time.
If we had just waited, with the way the season has gone, we could have signed our 3rd starter for so much cheaper. That would be a risk worth taking.

+1
This was the turn point series in my mind, either we took 3/4 or we start looking at this as a “bridge year” and employing a different strategy one where we arn’t making the playoffs.
