Its nice to see Brentz and Vitek hitting well

I still don’t know what to think of lars. He certainly still a good prospect, but its tough to get excited about him because his play has been sort of blah.

Also, I’ll be really dissapointed if Kendrick Perkins doesn’t turn this around because I really wanted to have two Kendrick Perkins in Boston sports.

And man, do we need more pitching prospects. Thank goodness for Workman and Ranuando because i hardly ever look at the pitching lines anymore because their consistently dissapointing.

I don't think we need more, per se.

And we’ve been having some fine years. Britton, Rivera, Doubront, and Volz are all having good years—if not in ERA than in peripherals.

Some guys are legitimately troubling—especially amongst the lower tier (Fife particularly comes to mind)—but otherwise you’ve got Kelly being pushed against much older talent (Kelly), Wilson who’s likely to be a reliever struggling as the season winds down, and a guy like Younginer who has no idea what to do with his stuff.

If Kelly can’t get Double-A down next year, or Britton gets hurt again, maybe we start worrying. But so far it’s just been more a matter of last year’s middling guys not really making the jump. Not a huge deal.

As for Lars, I’ll be very interested to see what he does at Triple-A next year. It took him a long time to adjust to Double-A. Why not one more go-around?

Fun Rizzo stat of the day:

What makes Anthony Rizzo’s 1.069 OPS over the last 10 games even more impressive?

It comes with a .265 batting average thanks to a .250 BABIP. That’s a .157 IsoD and .382 IsoP.

Honestly, were the year not already basically over, he’d be at Triple-A in a heartbeat.

Keep Rizzo in AA.

He still needs to sort out his BB/K numbers, although yes, they are steadily improving.

People I follow on twitter are calling for Hermida to get regular MLB playing time

because he will get in a groove and can hit with 2 out. NO, JUST,NO. He was absolutely awful this year, showing no resemblance of a plate approach, and he was awful the last two years. He’s never been good except for a BABIP induced 07 campaign.

Is Hermida worthy of putting on this?

I mean, he really isnt a prospect

he's worth it for curiousity since we still control his rights next year

and who knows, maybe someone else would want to be stupid like us and give him a shot

Yeah, maybe

But I thought this was for “Prospects”

Eh, I think players of interest work as well

I mean Rich Hill isn’t a prospect, I think he’s just up there so we can laugh whenever he gets a turn pitching. And then there’s Bates…

Well...

If hes not a “prospect” I guess…..

Oh boy

Does this mean Okajima is going back on the roster soon?

by n0va on Aug 22, 2010 7:21 PM EDT reply actions

probably for Richardson.

I can’t see them moving Doubront down because he’s been better than Oki, unless they need to cut back on his innings or something.

Richardson is already down

I’m gonna guess that Okajima gets another 8 days or so of rehab. Seems entirely possible, though, that they might send down Bowden for 10 days and bring him up in September.
